The Every Kid Every Community Grant (EKEC) is an annual program to support hockey in Alberta. The Hockey Alberta Foundation would like to encourage all Alberta-based Community Groups, Pond Hockey Programs, Youth Groups, Recreational Groups, Community Leagues and Local Minor Hockey Associations (LMHA) and clubs who have an idea, project or program that align with the EKEC guiding principles whereby an individual OR group may benefit from a Player Assistance or Program Grant to apply. The application period for local hockey associations wishing to host the NHL/NHLPA First Shift in 2021-22 is NOW OPEN! The six-week learn to play program, open to co-ed, female and para hockey host associations, continues to focus on having fun while learning basic skills. The Hockey Alberta Foundation has been accepted as a participating charity in the Birdies for Kids program, presented by AltaLink. Within this fundraising program, Hockey Alberta Foundation will receive 100 per cent of every donation accepted on its behalf and allows for additional funding of up to 50 per cent of the original donation.

NORTHSTARS CARES AND HOCKEY ALBERTA FOUNDATION TEAM UP TO SUPPORT HEROS HOCKEY

The Calgary Northstars U15 Players and their families have accepted a challenge to raise $10,000 for the SuperHEROS Program for the upcoming 2021-22 hockey season. This money will allow them to put another team on the ice from their existing wait list. The team, along with the help of The Hockey Alberta Foundation are organizing an online auction that will run the month of February 2021.

COVID-19 UPDATE - NOVEMBER 12

The Government of Alberta today announced a mandatory two-week pause on indoor group fitness classes and team sport activities. The pause applies to Edmonton and surrounding areas, Calgary and surrounding areas, Grande Prairie, Lethbridge, Fort McMurray and Red Deer. The Every Kid Every Community Grant (EKEC) is an annual program to support hockey in Alberta. The Hockey Alberta Foundation would like to encourage all Alberta-based Community Groups, Pond Hockey Programs, Youth Groups, Recreational Groups, Community Leagues and Local Minor Hockey Associations (LMHA) and clubs who have an idea, project or program that align with the EKEC guiding principles whereby an individual OR group may benefit from a Player Assistance or Program Grant to apply.
