Provincial Championship Exceptional Host Site Award

Presented annually to recognize the Minor Hockey Association/ Host Committee judged to have implemented the most outstanding Hockey Alberta Provincial Championship during the current season. The MHA/ Host Committee will have operated the tournament over and above the minimum guidelines and standards set out by Hockey Alberta, made an outstanding contribution to its community and left a legacy within their community and/or MHA to further the growth and development of minor hockey in the future.

2018 RECIPIENTs

Vermilion Minor Hockey Association (Bantam B)

Vermilion brought in Hunter, the Edmonton Oilers mascot, as well as the Lakeland College mascot. School classes were invited, and they filled one side of the arena. More than 600 people attended the banquet, which included guest speakers and a fabulous meal. And Glynn Mcdonald, tournament chair, arranged for emergency substitute goalies for two teams.

Olds Minor Hockey Association (Peewee Female A)

Olds hosted a True Spirit of Hockey event, and provided an exemplary example of hosting a true spirit event, as it included the school’s entire student body. The hosts engaged the entire town, and made the first game an event to remember with a full house including lots of students, and an impressive light show.
