Mac’s Tournament announces 2012 “Mac’s Experience” Team Winners

The 35th annual Mac’s Tournament in Partnership with Calgary Tourism and Hockey Alberta ran a contest November and the first part of December for the chance to “Experience the Mac’s Experience”.

Minor hockey teams in Alberta were all eligible to enter online at www.visitcalgary.ca. They entered the password “Froster” that was available at all Mac’s Stores in Alberta during the contest. Over 100 teams signed up for the contest which entitled the winners to receive motor coach transportation to Calgary from their home rink on January 1st to attend the Championship Finals of the 2012/13 Mac’s AAA Midget Hockey Tournament at the Scotiabank Saddledome. The teams also stay overnight at the Host Hotels for the Mac’s Tournament, the Delta Bow Valley and the Westin Calgary then attend VIP Breakfast Reception and tour of the Canadian Sport Hall of Fame on January 2nd, 2013.

The winning teams are:

- The Lloydminster Wizard Well Blazers Peewee Female team

- The Lacombe Rockets Atom B team

“The team was very excited when we won and is looking forward to the experience," says Shara Vick from the Lloydminster Blazers.

“The team was thrilled and excited to be contacted as the winners, the kids are pumped,” says Roy Burton from the Lacombe Rockets.

"I believe the teams will have a great time. As a tournament we wanted to expand the opportunity for minor hockey to experience our event, " said Chairman of the Mac’s Tournament, Byron Stephen. "We want to thank Tourism Calgary and Hockey Alberta for their partnership with this contest and our Host Hotels the Delta Bow Valley and the Westin Calgary.
