General Manager

General Manager –  Leduc Minor Hockey

Position Summary

The General Manager (GM) is responsible for the overall operational management of the Minor Hockey Association. This role ensures effective administration, financial stewardship, ice scheduling, player registration, and member communications. The GM serves as the primary point of contact for membership and works closely with the Board of Directors, coaches, volunteers, and external partners to ensure a well-organized and positive hockey experience for all participants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Association
  • Coordinate player registration and maintain accurate member records
  • Manage ice scheduling and facility coordination
  • Work in collaboration with the Treasurer to support budgeting, financial tracking, and reporting
  • Act as the primary contact for member inquiries and communication
  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors, coaches, and volunteers
  • Ensure compliance with LMHA policies as well as Hockey Alberta and league regulations.
  • Assist with planning events, meetings, and seasonal operations
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and organized environment for players and families

Qualifications

  • Strong organizational and administrative skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Experience in operations, sports administration, or community organizations is considered an asset
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Knowledge of minor hockey operations is preferred
  • Ability to work collaboratively with volunteers
  • Conflict resolution skills
  • High level of professionalism and discretion 
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications and registration systems

Position Details

  • Position Type: Full-time or contract position, with increased workload during peak hockey season (August–March)
  • Start Date: Immediate 
  • Reporting to: the Board of Directors (or Board President, if applicable
  • Compensation: Dependant on skill set and qualifications
  • Successful candidate will be required to complete a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
