Job Posting - Global Sport Academy Coach & U18AAA Assistant Coach (Hockey)

Overview:

Village Sports Inc. is a Calgary based company whose primary purpose is to leave youth sports better than we found it. We work with passionate people in their pursuit of competitive excellence by offering holistic sport development opportunities through character education platforms.    

 

Village Sports Inc. is looking for a full time Hockey Coach for their Global Sport Academy division in a dual-role capacity to begin on September 1, 2025. 

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and executing an environment of energy and fun for our student-athletes and possesses the innate ability to develop personal relationships, foster personal and athletic growth for our student-athletes, and recruit passionate, like-minded student-athletes into the program.

 

This position requires the successful candidate to work at our Airdrie and Springbank academies on a daily basis. This position will report to the Head Coach of the U18AAA Airdrie CFR Bisons and Springbank Global Sport Academy Area Manager.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Organization & Planning

  • In conjunction with the Area Manager, organize and plan annual, monthly and weekly programming for the various Global Academy programs

  • Build and maintain database of sport-specific, athletics and classroom session plans

  • Communicate regularly with support staff as required

  • Create, develop and track internal monthly competitions for each program

Execution & Engagement

  • Plan and deliver engaging sport-specific, athletics and classroom sessions with student-athletes that is competitive and team-first in nature

  • Provide accurate and consistent positive feedback to all student-athletes

  • Schedule and deliver one-on-one meetings with student-athletes regularly

  • Build and develop relationships with every student-athlete and their family consistently

Recruiting, Relationship Building & Culture

  • In conjunction with the Area Manager, identify and recruit qualified student-athletes to join the program

  • Attend games and events of current and future clients

  • Develop strong relationships with our current clients to increase retention and prospect new clients through relationships

  • Initiate and build strong relationships with tagged teachers to Global programs

Communication & Administration

  • In conjunction with the Area Manager, consistent communication and updates to families throughout the year

  • Attend and participate in one-on-one Parent/Player meetings throughout the year

  • Character and Skill Assessment Report Cards

  • Academic accountability and follow up with families

  • In conjunction with the tagged teacher, academic assessment of student-athletes

 

Assistant Coach Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and running team practices and off-ice training sessions.

  • Support game-day operations including pre-game preparation, in-game bench management, and post-game evaluations.

  • Provide individual feedback to players to promote skill development, leadership, and accountability.

  • Help establish and maintain a strong, positive team culture based on respect, work ethic, and growth.

  • Attend all games, practices, meetings, and team functions.

  • Communicate effectively with players, parents, coaching staff, and program leadership.

 

Education & Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience in coaching and demonstrable success in similar roles

  • Previous playing experience at a high level is an asset

  • Post-secondary education is an asset

  • Previous recruiting and/or sales experience

  • Proficient in basic functions of G-Suite applications

  • Clean criminal record check and vulnerable sector check

  • Up-to-date First Aid and CPR certification an asset (successful candidate will receive necessary training if certifications are expired)
