The Role
The Wolves Sport Coach, in consultation with the Athletic Director, is responsible for the successful implementation of a varsity athletics program. This position is responsible for the development, implementation, and successful delivery of a competitive varsity program. This position will also conduct sport-specific camps, coaching clinics, connect with local clubs, and assist with fundraising initiatives within the Athletic Department. Specific duties include:
Overseeing the Varsity Athletics Program
- Active involvement in contributing and following a comprehensive recruiting strategy to attract the best student-athletes to NWP
- Maintain and manage current fund-raising activities and identify potential opportunities
- Plan and implement supplemental training programs such as strength & conditioning, nutrition and mental training
- Plan and implement pre-season, in-season, off-season sport training
- Ensure the team is compliant with the rules, policies, and regulations of NWP, the ACAC and CCAA
- Foster and facilitate the development of a positive and inclusive culture for student-athletes
- Conduct all administrative tasks such as but are not limited to the completion of forms for player eligibility, media requests, medical information
- Participate in promotional activities as required. This would include but are not limited to social media, web site updates, media requests for interviews, attendance at promotional events
- Develop and implement annual plans that include all aspects of the team operations. This is to include the identification of current trends in sport locally, regionally, and nationally
- Manage the team coaching and support staff
- Operate within a team budget
- Assist in team-specific fundraising initiatives
- Monitor academic progress
- Communicate with faculty and staff as required
Recruiting high-quality student-athletes to NWP
- Develop recruiting networks locally, provincially, nationally, and internationally to identify top talent
- Ensure retention of student-athletes is measured and managed
- Recruit student-athletes who succeed academically in addition to succeeding athletically
Other responsibilities may include Fitness Desk, Gym Set ups, camps, Clinics, and other duties as required.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 2 years post secondary education in Coaching Education, Physical Education, Sport Science or Kinesiology. Necessary skills and attributes to be successful in this role include:
- 3 years directly related experience.
- NCCP Level 2 or other coach certifications.
- Working knowledge of the ACAC operating code.
- Professional verbal and written communication.
- Knowledge of film editing software.
- Demonstrated success in running a post-secondary sport organization.
- Proven successful leadership of student-athletes.
- Past success in creating a culture based on respect and understanding.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook;
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build strong relationships across the organization.
- A high level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability.
A combination of education and experience will be considered.
