Olds Minor Hockey is currently seeking coaches for the following programs:

  • U13 AA

  • U15 AA

  • U15 Female Elite (preference given to female candidate)

  • U18 AA

Olds Minor Hockey strives to develop coaches and players for the next level through hard work, dedication, commitment, discipline, integrity, and skill development.

Olds Minor Hockey encourages a holistic, comprehensive development approach for the AA & Elite Female programs.   Our programs are based on, but not limited to, the following developmental areas::

  • Life Skills (Right Understanding-Right Attitude-Right Practices)

  • Healthy Living Habits (Nutrition & Hydration-Sleep & Recovery-Stress Management)

  • Meta-Cognitive Skills (Organizational Skills-Study Skills-Reading & Numeracy Skills)

  • Athletic-Cognitive Skills (Pattern Recognition Skills-Spatial Orientation & Navigation Skills-Problem Solving & Decision Making Skills)

  • Mental Training Skills (Drive Skills-Mental & Emotional Control Skills-Leadership & Teamsmanship Skills)

  • Athletic-Movement Skills (Posture/Stability/Balance Skills-Mobility/Agility/Flexibility Skills-Coordination/Dexterity/Rhythm Skills)

  • Strength & Conditioning Skills (Strength Skills-Stamina Skills-Speed Skills)

  • Hockey Skills (Technical Skills-Tactical Skills- Game Sense Skills)

  • Hockey Team Skills (Offensive Techno-Tactical Structure & Systems/Defensive Techno-Tactical Structure & Systems/Special Teams Techno-Tactical Structure & Systems/Face-Off Techno-Tactical Structure & Systems).

Olds Minor Hockey offers the following benefits:

Olds Minor Hockey coaching requirements are as follows (coaches must have or be willing to obtain the following certifications before November 15, 2021 as per Hockey Alberta Requirements):

  • Development 1 (High Performance 1 is preferred)

  • Checking Skills 

  • Respect in Sport

  • Safe Return to Hockey

  • Any related certifications or education would be an asset.

Olds Minor Hockey expects successful candidates to:

  • Possess good communications skills

  • Be able to work well in a team setting

  • Possess superior teaching skills

  • Be willing to adjust their developmental plan around a program-wide core plan.

Applicants must submit a coaching resume, including all coaching experiences, as well as a season plan.  Only those selected for an interview will be contacted.  Selected candidates will be interviewed by representatives of Olds Minor Hockey & our Coach Mentorship Leader Scott Atkinson.

Applications will be accepted until June 4th, 2021 or until a suitable candidate is found. Only those selected for an interview will be contacted. Preference will be given to non-parent coaches that fit the required experience & knowledge that our program is striving for.
