Expectations & Responsibilities of the Successful Candidate
The successful Head Coach will play a central role in shaping the athlete experience, competitive identity, and long‑term success of our program. Responsibilities include:
On‑Ice Leadership & Player Development

Plan and lead on‑ice sessions including skill development practices and structured teaching progressions.

Use video, feedback, and high‑level teaching strategies to support individual and team improvement.

Continually refine practice plans using elite‑level coaching methods.
Game Preparation & Bench Management
-
Prepare opponent scouting, game plans, and execute tactical in‑game adjustments.
-
Provide post‑game feedback and guide athletes through performance direction.
Player Evaluation & Development Planning
-
Monitor and assess player progress, providing individualized development plans.
-
Lead player meetings, reinforce key systems, and maintain clear communication.
Team Culture & Standards
-
Create and maintain a positive, disciplined, respectful team environment.

Demonstrate leadership, professionalism, and accountability in all interactions.
Staff Leadership & Program Coordination
-
Oversee team staff (assistant coaches, trainers, managers) to ensure cohesive and efficient team operations.

Support organizational alignment within the AA pathway and program standards.
Representation & Community Engagement
-
Represent the program at meetings, community events, and other program‑related functions.
Certification & Compliance
-
Maintain or complete Hockey Alberta / Hockey Canada certification pathway requirements applicable to AA coaching.

Provide a valid Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
