HEAD COACH POSITIONS

The Sherwood Park Kings Athletic Club is currently accepting candidates for AAA / AA Head Coaching positions for the 2026-27 season.  As a leader, you will be instrumental in cultivating a constructive and competitive atmosphere, prioritizing player growth, sportsmanship, and collaborative teamwork.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:  

- To uphold and embrace the SPKAC four pillars - Hockey, Education, Community and Character 
 

- Contribute and assist in guiding the program, team, and staff in a suitable and structured direction 
 

- Establish an environment that promotes positivity and inclusivity, providing learning opportunities for all athletes. 
 
- Coach the team in all games and practices 
 

- Coordinate the delegation of responsibilities to assistant coaches and team staff 
 

- Plan on and off-ice activities 
 

- Organize parent meetings to share coaching philosophy and hockey curriculum 
 

- Plan, implement and control pre-game preparation and communication with the players 

- Plan and execute practice plans promoting individual and team skills development 

- Establish team rules and oversee the supervision of the athletes 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

 
- Established coaching background in elite youth or junior hockey 

- Knowledge of hockey development, skills, strategies, and tactics 
 

- Obtained, or working towards obtaining the required coaching certifications
 

- Strong leadership, communication and mentoring skills
