2011

  • The Blackfalds Wranglers defeated the host Sherwood Park Knights 2-1 to capture the 2011 Western Canada Junior B Championship, the Keystone Cup.
  • The Bentley Generals lost 5-3 to Clarenville Caribous from Newfoundland to capture a Silver Medal at the 2011 Senior AAA National Championship Allan Cup in Kenora, Ontario. Saturday’s game marked the fourth straight championship game appearance for the Generals, who won their lone national championship in 2009. Bentley is the first team since the 1994-97 Warroad Lakers to appear in four consecutive championship games.
  • The Edmonton Thunder (Midget AAA Female) fell 5-2 to the Notre Dame Hounds to win a Silver Medal at the 2011 Esso Cup in St. Albert.
  • The Bantam AAA Edmonton SSAC Southgate Lions defeated the host Winnipeg Sharks 5-3 to capture bronze at the 2011 Western Canada Bantam Championship.
  • At the Western Canadian Shield Senior Female Regional Championship it was the Calgary Coyotes taking home a bronze in the Senior A Female category and the Grande Prairie Panthers winning silver in Senior B Female.

2012

  • The Red Deer Rebels won the 2012 TELUS Cup, claiming Canada’s 39th National Midget Championship with a 6-5 double overtime win over the Phénix du Collège Esther-Blondin (Quebec) in Leduc. The gold medal is the first for the Pacific Region since the Calgary Northstars won the 2003 Air Canada Cup.
  • The SSAC Southgate Lions (Edmonton) won the silver medal at the Western Canada Bantam Championship, losing to Burnaby 3-0 in the final.
  • Western Shield Senior Female Championships: Sr. A, Calgary Coyotes (Silver) losing in double OT to Saskatchewan in the final; Sr. B, Grande Prairie (Silver) losing to BC in final.

2013

  • Bentley Generals from the Chinook Hockey League hosted the Allan Cup (Senior AAA) and won gold, defeating the Clarenville Caribous.

2014

  • Lloydminster Heat Bantam AAA lost 4-3 in double OT to North Shore Winter Club in the gold medal game at the Western Canada Bantam championships.

2016

  • The Allan Cup is coming back to Alberta once again, as the Bentley Generals won the Senior AAA national title in a thrilling fashion on Saturday afternoon. In what was a rubber match from last year’s Allan Cup in Clarenville, NL, the Generals exacted revenge against the reigning champions and tournament host South East Prairie Thunder with a 4-3 overtime victory.

  • North Peace Navigators won the bronze medal at the Keystone Cup with a triple-overtime win over the host Extreme Hockey Regina Capitals.

  • Lethbridge Val Matteoti Golden Hawks earned the bronze medal with a 2-1 overtime win over the Winnipeg Monarchs, while the host Rocky Mountain Raiders just missed out on gold, falling 3-2 to the Burnaby Winter Club at the Western Canada Bantam AAA Championships in Okotoks.
  • Lloydminster Bandit Pipeline Bobcats advanced to the Telus Cup (Quispamsis, NB) by sweeping the best-of-three Pacific Regional series against British Columbia’s Valley West Hawks, 2-0. Lloydminster lost in the bronze medal game.
  • Rocky Mountain Raiders swept their Pacific Regional series against the Northern Cougars, punching their ticket to the Esso Cup in Weyburn, SK. They bounced back from a heartbreaking semi-final loss in a big way on Saturday, beating the Saskatoon Stars 3-0 to earn bronze at the Esso Cup.

2017

  • Twelve former Team Alberta players and three former staff are now U Sports national champions as members of the University of Alberta Pandas. The sixth-seeded Pandas defeated the fourth-seeded McGill Martlets in double-overtime Sunday night in Napanee, Ontario to clinch the championship. Taylor Kezama, Cayle Dillon, Ashley Morin, Deanna Morin, Amy Boucher, Alex Poznikoff, Hanna Olenyk, Regan Wright, Abby Benning, Kirsten Chamberlin, Dayna Owen, and Kennedy Ganser have all previously played in the Team Alberta U18 Female program. Head Coach Howie Draper, Assistant Coach Leah Copeland, and Equipment Manager Wes Nystrom were also previously involved with the Team Alberta program.

  • The Keystone Cup is on its way back to Alberta, as the Wainwright Bisons defeated the Beaver Valley Nitehawks in overtime to claim the Western Canadian Junior B crown. Wainwright went undefeated in round-robin play (3-0-2) to punch their ticket to the finals.
  • The Alberta Female Hockey League’s St. Albert Slash are 2017 Esso Cup Champions after defeating Quebec 1-0 in an overtime thriller Saturday night. The Slash were dominant at the tournament, going a perfect 7-0 en route to a national championship.
