RED DEER - Registration for Hockey Alberta’s Development Seminar June 16-18 in Sylvan Lake closes this Friday.
The seminar features four streams of educational experience for participants to better prepare for the upcoming season. The streams include Development Directors, Goaltending Development, Coaches Skills, and NCCP Facilitator Training.
A highlight of the weekend for all delegates is a special presentation from keynote speaker Greg Millen.
Millen is best known for his 14-year career as an NHL goaltender (Pittsburgh, Hartford, St. Louis, Quebec, Chicago, Detroit), and 21-year career as an NHL broadcaster and analyst. He also has a keen interest in the field of leadership, having earned his Master of Leadership degree from the College of Management and Economics, University of Guelph.
Millen will be joined in a hot stove session by other NHL alumni and industry professionals as they reflect on some of the challenges and experiences in their careers.

Coaches Skills Camp
Providing coaches with an opportunity to further enhance their knowledge in the areas of Elite Player Habits, Age Appropriate Skill Development, Puck Possession and Protection Tactics, Developing Checking Skills for Today’s Game, Small Area Games, and Advanced Drill Design. This session is open to any Development 1 or High Performance 1 trained or certified coaches. The cost is $250 plus GST per registrant, and there are 50 spots available. A Hockey Alberta tracksuit will be provided as part of the registration fee. Please note: Delegates will be responsible for their own travel and accommodations.

Development Directors
Engaging and inspiring discussion on key topics including Player Development, Coach Development, Seasonal Structure, and the Initiation Program. This session is available to any MHA volunteers and staff involved with coach and player development. The Development Director session of the seminar will be at NO COST, however delegates will be responsible for their own travel and accommodations. Goaltending Development
Developing the knowledge and expertise of coaches, both regionally and within individual associations is a key component of Hockey Alberta’s new Goaltender Development Plan. This session will help MHA Goalie Coaches in creating their own plan to develop local goaltenders. For MHAs who don’t currently have a Goaltender Coach, this is the perfect time to identify someone to support your association for the 2017-18 season. This session of the seminar will be at NO COST, however delegates will be responsible for their own travel and accommodations.
