2022 Summer Weekday Prep Camp - Lloydminster
The 2022 Summer Weekday Prep Camp is an Alberta Built Skills program designed to help prepare athletes for the 2022-23 season. Hockey Alberta will be hosting a series of training sessions for male athletes at Servus Sports Centre in Lloydminster this August. The on-ice will be led by Chris Romanchuk and Dallas Hines.
All ice sessions will be conducted by a Hockey Alberta Instructor and there will also be a High Performance 1 coach present for all on ice sessions.

2007-2009 - 6:15pm-7:15pm

WHY: Introduce and reinforce proper skills for Forwards and Defensemen.

Forwards
Skating:
- Edge work
- Tight turns
- Inside edge/outside control
- Explosive first three steps
- Transition skating
Shooting:
- Quick release
- Shot placement
- Close blade/open blade shots
- Shooting in stride
- Focus on weight transfer (both legs)
Stickhandling:
- passing forehand/backhand
- saucer passes forehand/backhand
- catching passes in feet and out of air
- one on one moves
- puck protection
- scoring in tight
Defensive skills:
- Reading the play
- Body positioning
- Angles all over the ice
- Stick placement and lifts
- Takeaway skills and techniques
Defensemen
Skating:
- walking the blue line
- quick pivots, corner battle footwork/along the boards positioning
- focus on one-on-one battles and body position
Shooting:
- Head up shooting from blueline slapshot/wristshot
- one-timers and slap passes
- emphasis on accuracy and shot location
Stickhandling:
- pass deception
- escape moves Offensive/Defensive
- lane creation on blueline through Stickhandling
- hiding shot release all over the ice
Defensive Skills:
- stick on puck and defensive skills both in zone and against rush situation
- footwork defending in corners with multiple opponents
- pivots against rush situations
- emphasis on breakouts and shoulder checking
Goaltenders
The goaltenders will focuses on the physical aspects of goaltending, and the development of goaltender specific skills.
