Goalie Skills Camp North

Hockey Alberta’s Goaltender Skills Camp is an Alberta Built Skills weekend program that focuses on the mental and physical aspects of goaltending, and the development of goaltender specific skills through on-ice and off-ice sessions.

At this Alberta Builts Skills camp, your child receives:

  • On-ice sessions led by some of Alberta’s top goaltender instructors
  • Low instructor to goalie ratio.
  • Goaltenders divided into two groups
    • Beginner/Intermediate: Emphasis on skating, with a 3:1 goalie to instructor ratio.
    • Experienced: Emphasis on puck tracking, with a 2.5:1 goalie to instructor ratio.
    • 2009 and 2010 born goaltenders have the option on which group to join. 

WHO: Any 2005-13 born goaltender, all skill levels (male and female)

WHEN: May 2-3

TIMES: Saturday, 9 am-4:30 pm; Sunday, 10 am-4:30 pm. A detailed schedule will be sent out prior to the camp.

WHERE: Edmonton, Clareview Community Recreation Centre

COST: Beginner/ Intermediate, $275; Experienced, $355.

Matt Weninger - Lead Instructor
Matt is currently the Provincial Goaltending Lead for Hockey Alberta. He is in charge of creating resources, developing camps and overseeing the Regional Goaltender Leads. A former NCAA Division I goaltender at St. Lawrence University he is now also the Goalie Coach for the Moose Jaw Warriors in the WHL.

Ian Gordon - Hockey Alberta Goalie Lead (Edmonton)
Ian is the Regional Goaltending Lead for Edmonton for Hockey Alberta. Ian played in the WHL for the Swift Current Broncos and Saskatoon Blades before embarking on an 18 year pro career in the AHL, IHL and DEL. Ian currently owns Ian Gordon Goaltending and is the Goalie Coach for the Seattle Thunderbirds (WHL) and the Drayton Valley Thunder (AJHL)

Kraymer Barnstable - Hockey Alberta Goalie Lead (Central)
Kraymer is the Regional Goalie Lead for Central Alberta for Hockey Alberta. In addition, he is the current Goalie coach for the Red Deer Rebels (WHL) and the owner of Stable in the Net.
