Hockey Alberta Development Seminar-Skills
The weekend of June 16-18, 2017 is going to be an exciting one for Hockey Alberta, and the Town of Sylvan Lake, with the hosting of the inaugural Hockey Alberta Development Seminar.
The weekend-long seminar features four streams of educational experience and opportunity for participants to better prepare and equip themselves for the upcoming season. Each stream will include specially-designed classroom workshops and on-ice sessions geared specifically to each stream. The four streams are Goaltending Development, NCCP Facilitator Training, Development Directors, and Coaches Skills Camp.
The overall goal of the weekend is to educate, develop, and inspire our leaders of the game, and provide them with information to take back to their associations and teams to help grow the game of Hockey in Alberta.
The Coaches Skills Camp is an initiative of the Alberta Coach Development Plan delivered by Hockey Canada Master Skills Coaches that will focus on providing coaches with an opportunity to further enhance their knowledge in the areas of:
- Elite Player Habits
- Age Appropriate Skill Development
- Puck Possession and Protection Tactics
- Developing Checking Skills for Today’s Game
- Small Area Games
- Advanced Drill Design
Registration is now open for the Coaches Skills Camp. This session is open to any Development 1 or High Performance 1 trained or certified coaches. The cost is $250 plus GST per registrant, and there are 50 spots available. A Hockey Alberta tracksuit will be provided as part of the registration fee. Please note: Delegates will be responsible for their own travel and accommodations.
Sessions run Friday, June 16 through Sunday, June 18 at the Nexsource Centre in Sylvan Lake
