2019 Goaltender Skills Camp North

The Hockey Alberta Goaltender Skills Camp is a weekend development camp open to male and female athletes born 2004-2011, regardless of skill level. 

The focus is on the development of goaltender specific skills, and each goalie will attend on-ice and off-ice sessions that focus on the mental and physical aspects of goaltending. On-ice sessions will be led by some of Alberta’s top goaltender instructors and will have a low instructor to goalie ratio (3:1)

Date: April 13 - 14
Location: Edmonton - Clareview Community Recreation Centre
Times: 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (Saturday), 10 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (Sunday)

Capacity for this camp is 36 goaltenders, and registration is on a first come, first served basis. The registration deadline is April 5.

The cost for the camp is $375 and includes two full days of instruction from Hockey Alberta Goaltending Leads.

Matt Weninger - Lead Instructor

Matt is currently the Provincial Goaltending Lead for Hockey Alberta. He is in charge of creating resources, developing camps and overseeing the Regional Goaltender Leads. A former NCAA Division I goaltender at St. Lawrence University he is now also the Goalie Coach for the Moose Jaw Warriors in the WHL.

Ian Gordon - Hockey Alberta Goalie Lead (Edmonton)

Ian is the Regional Goaltending Lead for Edmonton for Hockey Alberta. Ian played in the WHL for the Swift Current Broncos and Saskatoon Blades before embarking on an 18 year pro career in the AHL, IHL and DEL. Ian currently owns Ian Gordon Goaltending and is the Goalie Coach for the Seattle Thunderbirds (WHL) and the Drayton Valley Thunder (AJHL)

Curtis Honey

Former WHL Goalie for the Brandon Wheat Kings (2011-2014). In addition to playing in the WHL, Cutris has alos played for the Bonnyville Pontiacs (AJHL and the University of Calgary. 

Ethan Wood

Currently the Goaltending Coach for the Whitecourt Wolverines (AJHL). Prior to his coaching career, Ethan has played in numerous leagues including the AJHL and NCAA.

  • Up to one week prior to camp starting: Full refund less administrative fee of $30
  • From One week to 72 hours to beginning of camp: Full refund less administrative fee of $60
  • From 72 hours to beginning of the camp: No refund
