Eight Alberta representatives will be heading to China from July 1-10, 2011 to share their hockey knowledge as part of a coach exchange program through Hockey Alberta and Alberta Sport, Recreation, Parks and Wildlife Foundation.

Delegates will be heading to the city of Harbin in the Heilongjiang province located in northeast China where they will be working with China’s provincial and national hockey associations. Alberta representatives will be working with both Chinese coaches and players in on and off-ice environments. The purpose of the exchange is to improve and expand the quality of coaching for both countries through exposure to different training methods and sport development systems.

“We’re excited to share our experience and knowledge of hockey with China, but we are just as excited to learn and expand our understanding of what other countries are doing in terms of hockey and sport development,” said Hockey Alberta General Manager, Rob Litwinski.

Hockey Alberta last participated in a coach exchange in 2008 when it sent a group of representatives to Finland.
