HOCKEY ALBERTA ANNOUNCES 2012 INVESTORS GROUP HOCKEY ALBERTA PROVINCIAL HOST SITES

Hockey Alberta announced Thursday the selected host sites for the 2012 Investors Group Hockey Alberta Provincials.

“Hockey Alberta would like to thank every association that submitted a bid to host Provincials,” said Rob Virgil, president, Hockey Alberta. “Hosting an event like this is no easy task. It’s a huge time commitment and its success is dependent on a great deal of volunteer and community support. We have every confidence that this year’s selected host sites will uphold our goal of creating a memorable experience not just for the players, but for parents, coaches, officials, volunteers and fans as well.”

The Investors Group Hockey Alberta Provincials will feature more than 10,000 amateur hockey players from over 100 communities competing for provincial supremacy during March and April, 2012. There will be Provincial Playdowns, which decide what teams will earn a spot to compete at their respective provincial championship, begin in January.

The host site selection process is quite extensive. Provincial host bid guidelines require all applicants to identify how they will meet a select list of criteria formulated by Hockey Alberta and its various councils. Selections are based on criteria such as volunteer support, marketing plans, financial goals, etc., which the Provincials’ host selection committee evaluates before making the final decision on who is successful.
